The game is based on their critically acclaimed album Dark Roots of Earth, and the game’s Scatter takes the form of the album’s cover image.

The HP symbols are all characterised by staple images from the thrash metal scene, a skull, a vampire, a werewolf, a skeleton and a shield. The LPS are stylised Ace through Jack card values. The Skull HP has a devilishly delightful possibility of transforming itself into a Wild on any random base game spin. During special features, it will always transform into a Wild.

The Wild is a thrash metal Demon and will substitute for any HP or LP symbol to help create winning combinations along the game’s paylines; players must match at least three matching symbols along the payways to pick up a base game win.

The game has three bonus features that can be triggered throughout the game; Song Features, Rise Up Free Spins and Testament Spins.

Features:

Song Features can be triggered by landing 2 Scatters on the reel in a single spin. Once triggered, the player is awarded three free spins, and one of three features will take place:

1. Cold Embrace – Any Wilds that land on the reels will stick to the grid and remain until the free spins are over.

2. Dark Roots of Earth – Skull HP will spread up or down on the reel when they land.

3. Throne of Thorns – Grid will expand from 5x3 to 4-5-6-5-4 increasing payways by nearly ten times the standard amount, up to 2,400 payways!

Rise Up Spins

This feature is triggered by landing 3-5 Scatters on the reels in a single spin, landing 4 or 5 Scatters will award 4x or 20x total bet payout, respectively. Players are awarded nine free spins, and the reels expand to 4-5-6-5-4, with nine spaces at the top of the grid blocked off with stone blockers.

Each tie a Scatter lands on the reels it will smash through a stone blocker, expanding the reel by one space. If all nine stone blockers are smashed during Rise Up Spins this will activate Testament Spins.

Testament Spins

Once triggered, Testament Spins will award another three free spins to the player, in addition to the number of Rise Up Spins they have remaining. All remaining spins will combine all of the powers of the Song Features, meaning Wilds will become Sticky and will also spread.
